Bible Recap Notes

I’m reading through The Bible Recap reading plan. These are my weekly notes, observations, and questions as I go. I’m not the teacher. See right sidebar for the teacher! I’m just the student making copies of my notes for anyone who wants to steal them.

  • Bible Recap Notes – Week One

    Day 1 – Genesis 1-3

“Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves waist coverings.” (Genesis 3:7)
“And the Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.” (Genesis 3:21)

Adam and Eve tried to cover themselves first in the best way they knew how, but it was not good enough. God showed them that He always knows a better way. God used garments of skin, and that’s all we know. The Bible doesn’t tell us that God went hunting and skinned animals and then tailored the clothes. This can be seen as the very first “animal sacrifice” as atonement for sin – an actual foreshadowing of the coming Christ.

“Who told you that you were naked?” (Genesis 3:11)

Sin. Before sin, there was no shame. After they ate from the tree God told them not to eat from, now they know what sin is. And with sin comes all that follows. Sin introduces shame.

    LORD in all CAPS

LORD in all caps in the Bible is God’s personal name. Shows He wants a personal relationship with us. YHWH is the Hebrew word/spelling, sometimes pronounced Yaweh or Jehovah.
