About Jenny

Hi, I’m Jenny L. Hassell—a writer, dog parent, caretaker, and recovering overthinker sharing real talk for real life. I am the kind of person who eats dip with a spoon, loves flowers and dogs, and gets irritated at people who think it’s a burden to help other people.

This blog is where I unload the stuff that piles up in my brain: the funny, the hard, the ridiculous, the embarrassing, and the meaningful. Some days it’s humor. Some days it’s heartbreak. Some days it’s both before noon.

You’ll find personal stories, sharp observations, a little self-help, a little sass, and probably a strong opinion or two on things like politics, aging, and why everyone insists on kayaking for fun.

I write books, too—including The Adventures of Chili D. Calhoun series (available on Amazon!)—and this space is where it all connects. If you’re looking for a laugh, a lifeline, or just someone who gets what it means to be exhausted, feel like an imposter, and still show up, you’re in the right place.

Fun fact: I love to hike—but if the trail ends in water, I’m out. Boots over boats, errrday of the week.
