About Jenny

Hi, I’m Jenny L. Hassell – a writer, dog parent, caretaker, and someone who spends a lot of time thinking about Scripture and what it actually means in everyday life.

Big Beautiful Blog is where I work those thoughts out in the open. Sometimes that means digging into a passage of Scripture. Sometimes it means reflecting on life, faith, mistakes, growth, and the strange ways God gets our attention when we least expect it.

I’m the kind of person who eats dip with a spoon, loves flowers and dogs, and gets irritated at people who act like helping others is a burden. Around here you’ll find honest reflections, Biblical exploration, personal stories, and the occasional strong opinion when the moment calls for it.

Most of the writing now lives in pieces like Still Waters, where I slow down and sit with Scripture long enough to hear what it might actually be saying beneath the surface.

I have also written some books – including The Adventures of Chili D. Calhoun series (available on Amazon) – and this space is where all of my writing eventually connects.

Fun fact: I love to hike. But…if the trail ends in water, I’m out. Boots over boats errrrryday of the week!
