  • Ruled Galilee and Perea after his father died and the kingdom was divided

  • Ruled Iturea and Trachonitis in the northeast after his father died and the kingdom was divided

Herod Agrippa I

  • Grandson of Herod the Great
  • Initially received Philip’s territory, then Antipas’s territory, and in AD 41 was given the lands once ruled by Archelaus, allowing him to rule nearly the entire kingdom of Herod the Great
  • Executed the apostle James, son of Zebedee (John’s brother, one of the Sons of Thunder)

  • Present when Paul gave his defense before Governor Festus in Caesarea
