Sometimes telling the truth can make things worse.
You know it might start an argument. You know it might upset someone. It would be easier to stay quiet and let things slide. But sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better, and sometimes people need to hear the truth.
The prophet Nathan faced that moment with King David. David had abused his power, taken another man’s wife, and arranged that man’s death. Nathan walked straight into the palace and told a story that exposed the king’s sin.
The most powerful man in the nation was sitting right in front of him.
Nathan told the truth anyway.
Truth binds. Without it, everything eventually falls apart.
This is the Belt of Truth.
