Bible Recap Notes – Week 13 (Days 85-91)

Day 85 – Joshua 12-15

Joshua defeated 31 kings. Final score: Joshua 31, Canaan 0.

Reba shows up again! But it’s probably a dude.

They killed Balaam son of Beor…. but did they keep the talking donkey? #JusticeForBalaamsDonkey

You get an inheritance, and you get an inheritance, and you get an inheritance…. but not you, Levites.

For the love of God (literally), here’s a map!

Day 86 – Joshua 16-18

Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites at Gezer. (16:10) They made them forced laborers. I feel like this is going to be an issue because that is NOT what God commanded them to do. We shall see.

18:1 The Tabernacle moves to Shiloh. Shiloh becomes the main worship center for a minute.

TLC’s video today sums it up. Take six minutes and increase yo knowledge…. but basically, here is some land. Here is some more land. Shiloh. Goodnight.

Day 87 – Joshua 19-21

Joshua finally gets his own inheritance!

The Levites don’t get one big tribal territory – they get 48 cities scattered throughout the other tribes. They are basically living throughout all of Israel.

21:45 – NOT ONE OF THE GOOD PROMISES WHICH THE LORD HAD MADE TO THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL FAILED; ALL CAME TO PASS.

Day 88 – Joshua 22-24

24:32 – Well here’s a God-sized holla-back. They buried the bones of Joseph. Remember Day 29 (Week 5)? They carried Joseph’s bones all the way from Egypt until they reached the Promised Land. He was buried at Shechem which Jacob (Joseph’s father) bought in Genesis. From Genesis to Joshua. Boom. As TLC says in her video today – FULL CIRCLE.

….but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. We quote the you-know-what out of this, but the real hammer is earlier in the verse where Joshua says, “Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve.” He’s basically saying, “You have a brand new car already. Are you really going to risk it for what’s behind Door #2? Idiots all! We ain’t playin’ no games up in here! I’M keepin’ the car!”

Day 89 – Judges 1-2

🔄Follow God. God fights for you. Don’t follow God, God let’s you fall. Rinse, repeat. Just follow God, y’all! Duh.

God raises up judges to help the Israelites keep it between the lines, but they continued to drive drunk. 🚗

There’s that angel of the Lord again! 👼He pretty much walks into the kitchen where you have busted a whole bag of flour all over the floor and says, “What have you done? Clean this up immediately!”

Day 90 – Judges 3-5

Israel keeps doing evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord keeps gettin’ mad.

They worshipped Baal. So the Lord let them be captured as slaves.

The people prayed, and the Lord sent Ehud to deliver them. Eglon the fat king gets killed by a left-handed dude👈named Ehud who was a judge (we are in Judges, y’all).

Rinse, repeat. Do evil, get enslaved. 🔄

Deborah, another judge (Judges, y’all!) goes into battle with Barak against Sisera. Team Barak-Deborah win, and Sisera runs away. He ends up at a tent asking for water and meets Miss Jael. Jael ain’t no joke. She gave him milk and …. let him fall asleep. Then, she kills Sisera with a ⛺tent peg. And the Bible with the understatement of the year says… “So he died.”😂

Day 91 – Judges 6-7

I mean….aren’t we all meant to be Gideon? Destroying altars to Baal and other gods, and building up an altar to the one true God? I shall henceforth be called “Gideon”. Let’s get to destroying and building up!

Side note: The Gideons International still distribute Bibles to hotels, etc. It’s those small ones. Pocket-sized. Kind of like Gideon’s army in today’s Scripture. He went from 32,000 to 300 and still won the battle because the LORD won it for him.
