Day 44 – Leviticus 1-4
Suet. 🐄 The fat around the kidneys of an animal. It’s the purest fat. I know this because I recently started making my own tallow and lard soaps….tallow is just rendered (filtered, basically) suet.
Leaven.🍞 A substance to make dough rise. I knew this already, but I didn’t know it my whole life. I was definitely an adult when I understood what this was. It’s just not a word we use in daily life…. the more you know.
Craw.🐦 A pouch in a bird’s throat where food is stored before digestion.
Smoke on the altar…. you know that prompted an earworm for your girl🔥🎸….. Enjoy a little Deep Purple on my behalf.

Day 45 – Leviticus 5-7
God is very detailed in His instructions…. TLC’s recap video is all you need today.
5:7 mentions “two turtledoves”,🕊️ but not a partridge in a pear tree… bummer.
Sent me down a rabbit hole🐇to see if The Twelve Days of Christmas 🎄was biblical. Short answer, it is not. Those meanings were probably retrofitted by later Christians, who found all kinds of biblical connections in it:
Two turtledoves – Old and New Testaments
Three French hens – faith, hope, and love
Four calling birds – the Gospels
Ten lords a’leapin’ – Ten Commandments
Twelve drummers drumming – the twelve points of the Apostles’ Creed or the twelve tribes of Israel
Notable – Mary and Joseph offer “a pair of turtledoves” 🕊️🕊️or two young doves after Jesus’ birth in Luke 2:24, quoting Levitical law directly.
Also notable – the turtledoves were approved offerings when someone couldn’t afford a lamb.
Day 46 – Leviticus 8-10
Just as the Lord commanded.
All those offerings!
🔥Burnt offering – Entire animal burned. Atonement and devotion to God.
🌾Grain offering – Grain, flour, oil, etc. Thanksgiving and dedication to God.
🤝Peace offering – Sacrifice partly eaten as a meal. Fellowship and thanksgiving with God.
🩸Sin offering – Sacrifice for sin, especially impurity or unintentional sin. Cleansing and forgiveness.
⚖️Guilt offering – Sacrifice for specific wrongdoing that required making things right. Forgiveness plus restitution.
👋Wave offering – Part of an offering presented (or “waved”) before God, then often given to the priests. A symbolic representation to God.
🍷 Drink offering – Wine poured out before God, often alongside burnt and grain offerings. An expression of worship and dedication to God.
Day 47 – Leviticus 11-13
Tara-Leigh covered the leprosy issue that caught my ear in her recap today. The ‘leprosy’ described here isn’t necessarily leprosy as we know it today (Hansen’s disease). Leprosy is used here as a generic term for a lot of different skin abnormalities.

Casting lots – rolling dice, drawing straws, drawing a name from a hat….🎲
🐐👹Goat-demons are mentioned here. Gives me the willies. Moloch, Baal, all that. I can’t even watch horror movies. I can’t figure why people want to worship those things. There’s nothing good about them at all. Even with God within their midst, some of Israel had still been sacrificing to pagan goat-associated spirits.
18:3-4 – “You shall not do what is done in the land of Egypt…you shall not walk in their statutes; You are to …keep My statutes…I am the Lord your God.“
Even though Islam and Sharia were not in existence when God said these words, my present-day application of this principle is to reject Islam and all other religions and spiritual practices. Not picking on Islam; it’s just that presently, Islam is on the aggressive move. I am talking about rejecting everything from Baal to Shinto to the Dalai Lama to yoga. The Lord my God is my God. Period.
“Uncover nakedness”😳 vs. “sleep with”😳 is basically “who” vs. “what”
First – “Uncover nakedness” is just a polite way to say “have sex with”. This wording is used in the incest section of Leviticus because God is telling us WHO is off-limits.
Then – God uses “sleep with/lie with” later because He is talking about a particular sex act.
