Field Notes: Joseph

We’ve all had a moment when doing the right thing costs us immediately.

Joseph was a slave in the house of Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, when Potiphar’s wife began pressuring him day after day. Joseph could have done it in secret. No one would have ever known. No one would have stopped him.

But Joseph refused. He said, “How then could I do this great evil and sin against God?” Eventually he ran from the house, leaving his coat behind in her hands.

His reward for doing what was right? Prison.

Integrity is not measured by the outcome. Integrity guards the heart even when it costs you something.

This is the Breastplate of Righteousness.
