Character Spotlight: Maya

The quiet ones are always the ones you have to watch.

Maya moved into Hawthorne Grove about three weeks before Demo Day. Not that anyone really knows her. She didn’t show up to the HOA orientation breakfast. Didn’t wave during the neighborhood trash-bin shuffle. Doesn’t even pretend to be interested in Facebook group drama.

Her yard is meticulous. Her routines are precise. She jogs early—real early—and always alone. She’s not unfriendly, just… unavailable.

Sawyer noticed her early on. Not in a hostile way—just in the way someone who’s lived through some shit can recognize another person carrying something heavy.

There are theories.

Cheryl thinks she’s in witness protection.
Blake thinks she’s some kind of spy.
Sawyer thinks Maya already knows more than she’s letting on.

Maya doesn’t have a dog, doesn’t come to the socials, and somehow still knows exactly where everyone parks. In a neighborhood that thrives on low-stakes chaos and passive-aggressive Post-its, Maya is unsettlingly calm.

We don’t know where Maya came from.
We don’t know what she’s looking for.
We just know she’s watching.
